Durango residents planning summer hikes must plan around intermittent closures at Junction Creek Trailhead due to construction, with major parking lot closures scheduled for July 14—16 and additional delays on the lower trail road.

Visitors will also have a chance to attend the Gem and Mineral Show from July 11—13 at the fairgrounds, and Durango’s Desi Dorada will perform at Animus City Theater on Friday, June 20 at 7 p.m. along with the Gallins.

Yesterday, the council approved Scott McClain as the new parks and recreation director—he will lead the department and manage our local park programs.

The City of Durango is launching a Compost Service Discount Program for income-qualified residents—this new program builds on the Utility Refund and Food Tax Rebate programs to help lower compost service costs.
