GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City officials released the meeting schedule for the week of August 4, 2025 (posted on August 1) and it shows the Council will vote on a partnership to bring back the mountain bike championship, Councilor Shirley Gonzales will hold office hours on August 6, and water service on 8th Avenue will be interrupted on August 5; meeting agendas and minutes are available online (via the city website) for review.  City of Durango
  • The new 15,500 square foot fire station at 1235 Camino Del Rio in downtown opened today for the Durango Fire Department to house a ladder truck, an engine, two ambulances, an EMS captain and eight crew members. Construction continues to add safety features and extra space — including improved road access, parking, and gardens — with a public open house planned for October once the work is completed.  Durango Local News
